Job summary

Composite Factory in Mooresville, NC seeks a Tool Prep & Reconditioning Department Lead to support the Production Supervisor in daily TP&R operations, lead and develop the team, and drive tool management improvements while upholding safety, quality, and company standards.

You bring a high school diploma or GED, 5+ years in composite manufacturing, respirator certification, and strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in composite manufacturing.
  • Must pass respirator fit testing and remain clean‑shaven per OSHA requirements.
  • Must wear a tight‑fitting respirator for the shift as required.
  • Complete annual respirator fit testing and medical evaluations.
  • Previous body work and composite experience required.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Strong leadership, organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Team‑oriented with composure under pressure.
  • Positive, can‑do attitude for a fast‑paced production environment.

Position Overview

The Tool Prep & Reconditioning Department Lead (TP&R) will assist the Production Supervisor in overseeing daily operations within the TP&R Department to ensure tools are prepped and reconditioned to the highest quality standards. This role will help build structure, lead and develop the team, maintain schedules and priorities, and support continuous improvements to tool management and processing throughout the organization while ensuring safety, quality, and company standards are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee a team of people to certify that all tools are prepped and reconditioned to the highest quality standards
  • Supervise the department schedule to ensure all daily requirements are met
  • Communicates with Planning and Production team to verify that priorities are clear
  • Manage the training and development of all new TP&R employees
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Have the ability to adjust to schedule and priority changes
  • Cooperate with the maintenance and management of the Mold Tracker report
  • Address personnel issues in conjunction with Human Resources
  • Generate and issue Performance Reviews on time to promote a positive work environment
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Must adhere to health and safety procedures, and all workplace policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What You Will Bring to the Team
  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in composite manufacturing required.
  • Must be able to pass required respirator fit testing and remain clean‑shaven in areas where a tight‑fitting respirator seals to the face, in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Must be able to wear a tight‑fitting respirator for the duration of the assigned shift, as required by the position.
  • Successfully complete all applicable respiratory protection requirements, including a medical evaluation and respirator fit testing.
  • Complete annual fit testing, with additional medical evaluations as required.
  • Previous body work and composite experience required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Team‑oriented with the ability to maintain composure and professionalism under pressure.
  • Positive, “can‑do” attitude and ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident in compliance with ITAR regulations

Hours of Operation

7:00 AM – 4:00PM; Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends and holidays as scheduled by leadership. This position is required to work on‑site during scheduled business hours. Any exceptions for remote or work‑from‑home arrangements must be reviewed and approved in advance by the employee’s manager.
