Job summary

Chromalloy is seeking a Metal Worker to perform grinding, blending, sanding, polishing, and finishing on aerospace castings. You will use hand and power tools to remove surface imperfections and meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards.

Shift: 2nd shift, Monday-Friday 2:30p-10:30p with a $2.00 shift differential. Training may include varied shifts before transitioning to the assigned schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ months of manufacturing, machine operation, production, or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and understanding work instructions.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Grind, blend, sand, buff, and polish metal castings to meet engineering and customer specifications.
  • Operate pneumatic and power hand tools, including die grinders, belt sanders, buffing equipment, and sandblasting equipment.
  • Remove parting lines, excess material, scratches, burrs, and other surface imperfections.
  • Review routers, work instructions, and inspection requirements before beginning work.
  • Perform visual inspections and identify areas requiring weld repair or additional processing.
  • Complete rework and repair activities related to visual inspection and fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI).
  • Select and use the correct abrasives, tooling, and finishing methods for each operation.
  • Document work performed and accurately complete required production paperwork.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Job Summary

We’re looking for a Metal Worker to perform grinding, blending, sanding, polishing, and finishing operations on aerospace castings. This role uses hand and power tools to remove surface imperfections and prepare components to meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards.

Shift: 2nd shift, Monday-Friday 2:30p-10:30p

Shift Differential: $2.00

Training: During the training period, employees may be required to work a schedule outside of their regularly assigned shift to support hands-on learning & development. Training is typically conducted Monday-Friday and may occur on 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift based on business needs. Upon successful completion of training, employees will transition to their assigned shift.

What We’re Looking For

  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to work safely, follow procedures, and work effectively in a team environment.

Nice to Have
  • Experience with grinding, blending, polishing, or finishing metal components.
  • Experience in aerospace, foundry, casting, machining, or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience performing visual inspections or rework activities.
  • Familiarity with abrasive materials, polishing tools, and finishing techniques.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Manufacturing environment with moving equipment, vibration, loud noise, and frequent exposure to dust, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Regular use of hand and power tools for detailed finishing work.
  • Ability to sit, stand, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment required for inspection and finishing tasks.
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, safety glasses, hand protection, and safety-toed shoes.

This position may require work hours outside of the regularly scheduled hours to meet operational needs. This may include work during evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Additional work hours are assigned based on business requirements. Non-exempt employees will be paid overtime in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

The salary range for this position reflects a broad spectrum of experience levels. Individual compensation within the range is determined by multiple factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, job related skills, internal equity, and market conditions. We evaluate each candidate individually to ensure fair and competitive pay decisions.
