Job summary

INNIO in Wisconsin seeks a Finishing Operator - Machining to manually deburr, edge finish, and prepare surfaces on precision components. You will ensure quality and dimensional accuracy per engineering drawings, and safely operate deburring tools to support production.

Responsibilities include inspections with calipers and gauges, identifying nonconforming parts, cleaning parts, and maintaining tools and fixtures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in manufacturing, machining, metal finishing, deburring, inspection, or a similar precision manufacturing environment.
• Experience using pneumatic deburring tools, grinders, files or similar finishing equipment.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow manufacturing work instructions, process documentation and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual deburring, edge finishing, cleaning and surface preparation of precision‑machined components using hand tools and grinding equipment.
• Remove burrs and surface imperfections without damaging machined surfaces or altering critical dimensions.
• Conduct visual inspections and basic dimensional checks per work instructions and drawings.
• Use calipers, micrometers, gauges and other inspection devices as trained.
• Identify and communicate nonconforming or questionable components according to quality procedures.
• Clean machined components and remove chips, coolant, debris before inspection or downstream processing.
• Safely move, stage, load and unload components using carts, racks or lifting devices.
• Verify part identification, production status and traceability requirements.
• Maintain deburring tools and equipment in good condition and identify worn or damaged tooling.
• Support machining operations with fixture cleaning, tool/material staging and general production support.
• Perform secondary manufacturing operations as required and cross‑train other processes when needed.

TheFinishing Operator - Machining is responsible for manually removing burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections from connecting rod components and other machined parts to ensure product quality, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with engineering specifications. This position supports production operations through the safe operation of deburring equipment, inspection of finished components, and adherence to established quality and safety standards.

Key areas of responsibility:

• Perform manual deburring, edge finishing, cleaning, and surface preparation of precision‑machined components using approved hand tools, pneumatic tools, grinders, files, abrasive tools, and other equipment.
• Remove burrs, sharp edges, residual material, chips, and surface imperfections without damaging machined surfaces or altering critical dimensions, holes, radii, chamfers, or other specified features.
• Perform visual inspections and basic dimensional checksin accordance withwork instructions, engineering drawings, control plans, visual standards, and quality requirements.
• Use approved measuring and inspection equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection devices, asrequiredand trained.
• Identify,contain, and communicate nonconforming or questionable componentsin accordance withestablished quality procedures.
• Clean machined components and remove chips, coolant, debris, or residue asrequiredbefore inspection or downstream processing.
• Safely handle, move, stage, load, and unload components using carts, racks, lifting devices, or other approved material‑handling equipment.
• Verify part identification, production status, routing, and traceability requirements.
• Maintain deburring tools, abrasives, gauges, fixtures, and other equipment in proper working condition andidentifyworn, damaged, or ineffective tooling.
• Support machining operations through activities such as fixture cleaning,tooland material staging, chip removal, workstation preparation, and general production support.
• Perform secondary manufacturing operations such as part washing, marking, gauging, rust prevention, packaging, or preparation forsubsequentmanufacturing processes asrequired.
• Cross-trainand supportadditionalmachining, finishing, inspection, cleaning, and material‑handling operations as business needs require.

What you’ll bring:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previousexperience in manufacturing, machining, metal finishing, deburring, inspection, or a similar precision manufacturing environment.
• Experience using pneumatic deburring tools, grinders, files, abrasive tools, or similar finishing equipment.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow manufacturing work instructions, process documentation, visual standards, and safety procedures.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, standard work, and continuous improvement principles.
