Finishing Operator GEA
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

(The items listed reflect management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned):

  1. Assist with the setup and operation of stitchers, folders, perfect binder, polybagger, cutters, mailers, shrink wrappers, tipper, CT trimmer, drills, and other finishing equipment.
  2. Understand the job ticket and other specifications of an assigned job.
  3. Understand the standards as explained on the goal sheets and work toward achieving the goals.
  4. Feed pockets, recognize and sort different forms.
  5. Jogging all paper into uniform lifts.
  6. Down-pile, including sorting, palletizing, and bagging mail per postal regulations and/or client specifications.
  7. Make boxes, finish products, create labels, stuff envelopes, jog, stack, and sort products.
  8. Conduct periodic quality checks.
  9. Monitor production and quality.
  10. Understand customer packaging specifications and pack skids per instructions.
  11. Understand and comply with safety procedures regarding equipment operation and organizational policies.
  12. Participate in, support, and drive 6S and lean activities in the finishing department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Previous manufacturing experience, in a printing environment is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Word processing knowledge.

2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

3. Ability to work independently with little or no instruction.

4. Problem analysis and problem resolution abilities.

5. Language skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret various types of correspondence. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers and employees. Ability to effectively present information to customers and management.

6. Mathematical skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions. Basic accounting and financial knowledge. Ability to read dimensions with a scale and perform calculations of measurements in both fraction and decimal format. Conversion of fractions to decimals and vice versa.

7. Reasoning ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

8. Ability to ensure that tight deadlines are met.
