Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a manufacturing operator to run Bobst basket gluers in a fast-paced plant in Kentucky. You will maintain machine uptime, document production data in SAP and ei3, and ensure quality and safety standards are met.

The role requires a strong mathematical mindset, analytical problem-solving, and reliable teamwork. Candidates should be able to lift 50 pounds and will work within a Lean environment focused on continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a Bobst basket gluer.
  • Comply with safety, quality, productivity and security procedures.
  • Record operator documentation in SAP and ei3 accurately.
  • Monitor for inefficiencies and adjust or escalate as needed.
  • Understand glue monitoring and control systems.
  • Engage in Standard Work and maintain the work environment.
  • Communicate issues to supervisors with data-based solutions.
  • Arrive 5–15 minutes before shift start.
  • Coordinate with printing/cutting on quality issues.
  • Assist in breaking out operators when needed.
  • Monitor product quality and meet specifications.
  • Participate in Lean and cross-functional process improvements.
  • Enter information into SAP and ei3 systems.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Operate and Maintain a Bobst basket gluer.
  • Complies with all company and department safety, quality, productivity and security procedures.
  • Ensures accuracy in recording of operator documentation involving all aspects of the assigned machine. This includes production reports, specification verification, quality requirements, machine logbooks, checklists and SAP.
  • Monitors machine for inefficient operation and makes adjustments as necessary or notifies and assists (as needed) the lead operator in resolution of such issues.
  • Understands and operates glue monitoring and control systems on the machines.
  • Understands and participates in the Standard Work system and takes full ownership of working environment.
  • Communicates all machine and department issues effectively to supervisors, converting manager and lead operators and presents data based solutions in keeping with Continuous Improvement Objectives.
  • Will show up for work between 5 and 15 minutes prior to shift start time, unless otherwise directed by supervisor or converting manager.
  • Responsible for communicating to printing / cutting operators regarding quality issues with the printed and/or cut material.
  • Will assist in "breaking out" operators as needed.
  • Understands and monitors the quality of product being produced and maintains per requirements.
  • Participates in lean manufacturing teams and contributes to the overall process improvement in a cross functional basis.
  • Ability to enter information into SAP and utilize ei3 system.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • Safe Quality Food Responsibilities: Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods. Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures. Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
