Job summary

Smurfit WestRock is hiring a Finishing Operator in the United States to operate folder gluer and window machines, ensuring production quality, machine readiness, and strict adherence to safety and SQF standards. You will contribute to meeting daily production goals and participate in safety training.

You will perform quality audits, document results, assist in training new hires, and support preventive maintenance while following 5S practices and using Shop Floor, Inkjet, and Robot Cells systems

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use measurement devices.
• Ability to read instructions and follow quality procedures.
• Physical ability including lifting and operating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate folder gluer and window machines while maintaining production equipment numbers and quality standards.
• Determine production priorities, prepare materials, and make-ready assignments to keep workflow efficient.
• Perform and document quality audits, approve job start-ups, verify job completion, and generate statistical reports.
• Support equipment readiness through machine set-up, adjustments, and basic maintenance functions.
• Follow all safety requirements, including PPE usage and monthly safety activities.
• Maintain compliance with SQF, safety policies, and 5S/housekeeping standards.
• Collaborate with teammates to troubleshoot issues and support preventative maintenance.
• Utilize production-related systems such as Shop Floor, Case Inkjet, Mix Prevention System, and Robot Cells.

The Opportunity

As a Finishing Operator, you will play a vital role in operating folder gluers and window machines while ensuring production quality, machine readiness, and adherence to all safety and compliance standards. This role is essential to maintaining efficient production flow, meeting quality specifications, and supporting the Finishing department through equipment set-ups, audits, troubleshooting, and strong operational discipline. Your daily responsibilities will support both immediate production needs and long-term continuous improvement through 5S and safety activities.
