Job summary

Activar Brand in Minnesota is seeking a Finishing Operator, Grinding to operate grinding equipment and produce parts to specified tolerances. You will follow job specs, inspect output, and maintain documentation while ensuring safe operation of all equipment.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED and prior manufacturing experience. You will work in a fast-paced team environment, support continuous improvement, and uphold clean, organized work practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in a similar manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and instrumentation diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Operate grinding machines to achieve high quality production.
  • Inspect work for conformance to specifications.

  • Complete required documentation.
  • Ensure safe operation of equipment.
  • Suggest methods to improve production and quality.
  • Report safety, equipment, tooling or quality issues to supervision.

Job description

POSITION PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for operating grinding equipment according to job specifications. The Finishing Operator, Grinding accurately and efficiently completes orders to established procedures and quality standards.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Operate machines to ensure the highest quality of production is achieved.
  • Inspect work for conformance to job specifications.
  • Obtain necessary materials and tools required to achieve expected run rates.
  • Complete documentation as needed.
  • Ensure the safe operation of equipment.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Report immediately to supervisor/lead/manager any and all problems, which may affect safety, equipment, tooling, and/or quality.
  • Maintain full working knowledge of all processes.
  • Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
  • Conduct himself/herself in a professional manner in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Tenacity in overcoming obstacles while maintaining productive and positive working relationships.
  • Ability to execute in a rapidly changing fast paced environment that requires strong team work.
  • Understanding of all tools, gages, equipment, and other various instruments used to perform position.
  • Basic ability to understand blue prints, schematics, and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Skill in performing accurate arithmetic functions involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; using decimals, percentages, fractions, and ratios.
  • Knowledge of quality system and ISO procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Required:
    • Equivalent of high school diploma or G.E.D. certification.
  • Preferred:
    • Previous experience in a similar manufacturing setting.
