Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is hiring a Finishing Lead to safely manage the gluing department, focusing on productivity, quality and preventative maintenance. You will ensure safety compliance, operate folding and gluing equipment, and drive process improvements in a fast-paced packaging production line.

The role requires strong leadership, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to maintain quality standards and training for new operators.

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• Protective equipment: Safety glasses, ear plugs, steel toe boots, hairnet, beard net, gloves.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the gluing department’s performance, including productivity, quality, and preventative maintenance.
• Ensure SQF/food packaging safety compliance.
• Operate machines per customer specs and SOPs.
• Perform quality checks on glue, labels, and case packing.
• Set up and monitor bar code scanners, glue detectors, and jam sensors.
• Troubleshoot to ensure package material quality and conformity.
• Record Daily Management System reports and communicate with management.
