Job summary

Jacob Interior Trim is seeking trim carpenters for residential production housing across Lake and Porter Counties, Indiana. Positions are full-time with typical Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm hours and potential overtime. Pay ranges from $18–$35 per hour and W-2 employment is offered.

Foreman and leads may provide company vehicles and paid fuel. Carpenters will install millwork such as windows, doors, baseboards, crown molding, mantels, and related trim.

Qualifications

• A carpenter must have knowledge of practices, procedures, tools and equipment, material, quality control, and safety.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, plans, sketches, design details or instructions from supervisors.
• Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
• Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders.
• Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
• Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure.
• Build stairs, mantles, and cabinetry.
• Install cabinets and molding.
• Replace and hang doors.
• Drill and set door hardware.
• Erect scaffolding.
• Install partitions, doors, and windows
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas.
• Cut, shape, and assemble wood, composition, and/or plastic sections with shop tools and equipment.
• Assemble prepared components for various structures, including cabinets, bookcases, desks, and paneled doors.
• Prepare structures for finish applications by planing, shaping and sanding; using hand and power tools.
• Maintain and clean equipment and work area.
• Perform related duties as assigned or needed.
