Ultipro in Alabama is seeking a Level 1 Finish Technician responsible for deburring, pem/dip/paint prep, and inspecting welded aluminum parts for visual quality.

The ideal candidate should have basic knowledge of finish polishing or sanding, familiarity with how paint lays on aluminum, and experience using epoxy filler to cover cracks, with the ability to meet shop deadlines and maintain a clean, safe work area.

Qualifications

  • 2-year technical degree preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of finish polishing or sanding, including using a hand file.
  • Familiarity with how paint lays over aluminum parts and its effect on appearance after paint.
  • Familiarity with using epoxy filler to cover cracks on aluminum parts.
  • Proficient skills for electrical and/or mechanical assemblies with good eye-hand dexterity.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Work with appointed employee to ensure appropriate finish is applied to parts.
  • Work with appointed employee to ensure all finish tools are kept neat and in their proper place
  • Keep shards of scrap metal, slugs, skeletons and all other debris properly disposed of
  • Work with appointed employee to ensure shop order is properly filled out with correct part quantities
  • Work with appointed employee to make sure the parts going to the press brakes for bending are stacked correctly
  • Keep the deburr area policed daily and maintain a clean work area
  • Clerical duties as assigned: assembling shop orders, shop packets, printing drawings and labels for master QA filing cabinets and helping manage inventory of office supplies for Fabrication department.

Job description

Level 1 Finish Technician works to deburr parts and pem/dip/paint parts. The ideal candidate has the basic knowledge of working with any kind of finish polishing or sanding, including using a hand file. This position will inspect welded aluminum parts to ensure they are esthetically pleasing to the eye. The ideal candidate must be familiar with how paint lays over aluminum parts and how that may affect the esthetic appearance after paint. The candidate must also be familiar with using body/two-part epoxy filler to cover cracks and other defects on aluminum parts. This candidate must have the ability to work in a timely and efficient manner to meet shop deadlines.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with appointed employee to make sure appropriate finish is applied to parts.
  • Work with appointed employee to make sure all finish tools are kept neat and in their proper place
  • Keep shards of scrap metal, slugs, skeletons and all other debris properly disposed of
  • Work with appointed employee to be shop order is properly filled out being careful of part quantities
  • Work with appointed employee to make sure the manner in which parts going to the press brakes for bending are stacked
  • Keep the deburr area policed on a daily basis not allowing any dust, debris etc. to build up and to maintain a clean work area.
  • Clerical duties as assigned: Assembling shop orders, shop packets, printing drawings and labels for the master QA filing cabinets as well as helping manage the inventory of office supplies for the Fabrication department.
PREFERRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • A 2-year technical degree is preferred for this position but not required. A high school diploma or GED equivalent and work experience is acceptable
  • Basic knowledge of working with any kind of finish polishing or sanding, including using a hand file
  • Must be familiar with how paint lays over aluminum parts and how that may affect the esthetic appearance after paint.
  • Must be familiar with using body/two-part epoxy filler to cover cracks and other defects on aluminum parts.
  • Must possess proficient and knowledgeable skills for electrical and/or mechanical assemblies and possess excellent eye hand dexterity
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently
