Job summary

Briggs & Stratton, headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is seeking a Finish Laborer to coordinate the movement of materials through the finishing department to meet the assembly production schedule. You will guide Finish Laborers, ensure correct parts are painted and packaged, and maintain accurate inventory records.

You will also coordinate flow from weld and off-site locations, enforce safety SOPs, and implement visual controls to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required.
  • Minimum 2 years in manufacturing or inventory control.
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location.
  • Basic reading/writing/math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and prioritizes work activities of Finish Laborers to ensure correct parts are painted and packaged for Assembly.
  • Coordinates flow of materials from weld and off-site locations as well as shortage and rework items to ensure correct quantities are sent to assigned assembly line locations.
  • Maintains accurate inventory records; corrects variances from scheduled cycle counts.
  • Ensures established safe operating procedures are routinely practiced by all Finish Laborers.
  • Implements visual inventory controls such as signage, containers, push carts, etc. and material handling equipment for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Experience Requirements

Minimum of 2 year experience in a manufacturing and/or inventory control environment

Physical & Environmental Requirements

Some physical demand; often lifts light weight material. Rarely lifting/moving average weight (25-50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material.

Ability to stand and/or walk constantly over a full work shift (8-12 hours)

Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours)
