Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position contributes to organizational construction projects by providing hands-on carpentry and suggestions for continuous improvement. Serves as a resource for carpentry knowledge for co-workers and hospital staff. Responsible for adhering to all legally mandated guidelines and hospital policies, and takes initiative in providing a comfortable and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • High School diploma or equivalent. Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of commercial construction and remodeling principles, practices, procedures, and techniques.
  • Ability to read blueprints, maps, charts, etc.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Experience and skill in contributing to team projects with a positive attitude and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of construction including metal studs, drywall, drywall finishing, cabinetry and laminate work, ceiling grid systems, painting, and commercial door hardware.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
  • Experience using and maintaining common construction tools.
  • Chauffeur's license preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
  • Current Michigan driver's license and clean driving record.
