Job summary

CK Construction Group Inc. is seeking a Finish Carpenter to construct, install, and repair wood structures and fixtures, using hand and power tools, in accordance with local building codes. The role reports to the Carpenter Foreman and focuses on finish work, doors, and hardware.

You will read blueprints, prepare layouts, measure and cut material, assemble components, install window frames and trim, and work safely with ladders and scaffolding on site.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or 4-6 years carpentry experience required.
• High School diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to the type of material required.
• Prepare layout, using rule, framing square, and calipers.
• Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials to prescribed measurements, using saws, chisels, and planes.
• Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue.
• Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenter's level.
• Erects framework for structures and lays sub-flooring.
• Builds stairs and lays out and installs partitions and cabinetwork.
• Applies shock absorbing, sound deadening, and decorative paneling to ceilings and walls.
• Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, door frames, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware, such as locks.
• Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures aboveground level.
• Fits and nails sheathing on outer walls and roofs of buildings.
• Installs door and window bucks in designated positions in building framework, and braces them with boards, nailed to framework.

Job Description

SUMMARY

The Finish Carpenter role constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard, using carpenter's hand tools and power tools, and conforming to local building codes. This position reports to the Carpenter Foreman and may take direction from the Project Superintendent and Trade Superintendent. Closely interacts with other trade persons. The primary focus of this role is finish work and installing doors and hardware.
