Job summary

West Virginia State Police is seeking a detail-oriented fingerprint technician to perform identification and verification of fingerprints in the AFIS system. The role involves processing and disseminating criminal history records, and updating related files under supervision.

The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, with two years of fingerprint classification experience or completion of the Basic Henry Fingerprint Classification course.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent.
• Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in fingerprint classification or completion of the Basic Henry Fingerprint Classification course.

Responsibilities

• Compare and verify fingerprints using ridge detail to determine match/non-match.
• Retain fingerprint images in the database and update records accordingly.
• Identify and classify fingerprints according to the Henry Classification System and through the AFIS system.
• Disseminate processed records and maintain secure handling of sensitive information.
