Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking a talented Sous Chef in Chicago, IL to support a premier catering and events client delivering fine dining experiences at weddings, private dinners, and high-end corporate events. The role partners with the executive chef to orchestrate flawless service, develops menus, and ensures meticulous execution.

Ideal candidates bring Michelin-level experience, strong leadership, and a passion for scratch cooking, with the ability to manage 2–10 staff, interact with VIP

Qualifications

Fine-dining experience at Michelin- or James Beard-level establishments.
Previous leadership as Sous Chef/Lead in luxury catering or private events.
Ability to lead 2–10 staff with clear communication.
Willingness to participate in a two-day stage and tasting for interview.
Must have a vehicle to travel to farmers' markets and venues.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the executive chef to plan, prep, and execute private dining events.
Lead and supervise the culinary team during events.
Serve as on-site point of contact with clients and guests.
Prepare production lists; manage ordering, receiving, and inventory.
Champion food safety, sanitation, and kitchen cleanliness.
Foster a respectful, inclusive, high-performing team culture.
