Job summary

The Richards Group, an IMA Company, is seeking a Financial Strategist to translate complex financial data into clear, client-ready insights for benefits strategy decisions. You will independently support financial modeling, claims projections, IBNR analysis, and renewal planning for self-funded and level-funded clients.

You will also consult on stop-loss programs, support negotiations with carriers, and participate in client discussions to represent the Financial Strategy function.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suites.
  • Underwriting concepts and actuarial computations.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.

Job description

The Richards Group, an IMA Company is seeking a Financial Strategist to join our growing team. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys translating complex financial data into clear, client-ready insights and wants to play a meaningful role in helping clients make informed decisions around their benefits strategy.

In this position, the Financial Strategist will independently support core financial modeling, claims projections, IBNR analysis, and strategic renewal analysis for self-funded and level-funded clients. This person will also consult on stop-loss programs and funding strategies, support financial negotiations with carriers and vendors, and begin representing the Financial Strategy function in client discussions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical analysis skills, a consultative approach, and a service-oriented mindset. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable communicating financial analysis to both internal partners and clients. Experience with self-funded plans, market trends in funding and pricing, and peer review processes will be especially helpful in this role.

This position offers flexibility, including the option to work remotely. Because we value in‑person collaboration for training, client support, and strategic meetings, qualified candidates must live within reasonable travel distance to one of our VT or NH locations.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Marketing/RFPs
  • Prepares and manages RFP for all self-funded TPA and stop loss submissions to market with Client Executive direction
  • Collect s , manage s, and review s proposals on self-funded TPA and stop loss marketing events
  • Update s marketing results into spreadsheet ensuring accuracy to be used internally and in client presentation
  • Renewals
  • Initiate s review of fully insured medical , and self-funded TPA and stop l oss renewals , including plans, cost , contributions and contract terms
  • Provide s recommendations to client regarding renewal analysis
  • Partnership & Negotiation
  • Negotiate s with carriers based on client’s targeted goals
  • Maintain s ongoing relationship s with carrier and vendor partners
  • Provides analysis for benchmarking, contribution, disruption, network, stop loss deductible and GeoAccess analysis
  • Provide s underwriting cost projections for self-funded medical/Rx, dental, and vision products.
  • Develops and communicates self-funded IBN P analysis to client
  • Assess s proper risk and funding structures such as fully insured vs. self-funded analysis, and presents findings to client to align with client goals
  • Reporting
  • With minimal guidance, a nalyze s data for inconsistencies and trend s
  • Provide s a written and oral summary of findings to Client Executive
  • B uild s and customize s reports to fit client needs
  • Presentation
  • Prepare s client presentation s and present s i n front of client with provided direction from Client Executive
  • Provides mentorship to analysts and performs technical review of work
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 4+ years of similar or related experience
  • Prefer college graduate, 4 -year degree or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suites
  • Attain s Life and Health license & maintain s through continuing education requirements
  • Limited travel required (less than 25%)
  • U nderstand s concepts of underwriting and actuarial computations
  • Analyze s and interpret s data
  • Effectively manages multiple projects while meeting timelines
  • Ability to be firm and persuasive when needed, while maintaining good relationships
  • Handle s confidential information with tact and discretion

Salary Range: $54,000 USD - $67,500 USD
