Job summary

SelectQuote, Inc. is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager in Overland Park, KS to prepare and review internal and external financial statements, assist with SEC filings, and maintain SOX controls.

You will perform technical accounting research, model complex calculations, and support the monthly close alongside the FP&A team. The role requires 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, a CPA preferred, and familiarity with NetSuite and Workiva.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • 5–7 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements for business units and the consolidated entity in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Assist in drafting Form 10-Q and 10-K, quarterly earnings releases, and schedules with complete tie-outs.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for technical areas such as debt, equity, leases, and capitalized software.
  • Manage equity plan administration, accounting, tracking, and reporting for share-based compensation and ESPP.
  • Monitor evolving GAAP and SEC guidance; perform technical research and model calculations for complex topics.
  • Prepare quarterly valuations and accounting models, including SAB 99 assessments and EPS calculations.

About the Role

The Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for assisting with the timely preparation of internal and external financial information, conducting technical accounting research, and documenting complex financial transactions and emerging accounting standards. This role plays a critical part in maintaining compliance with internal controls and supporting the overall financial close and SEC reporting processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Financial Statements & Consolidations: Manage the preparation of monthly business unit and consolidated financial statements—including the statement of cash flows—in accordance with US GAAP.
  • SEC Reporting & Filings: Assist in drafting Forms 10-Q and 10-K, quarterly earnings releases, and associated supporting financial schedules, including complete tie-outs of filing materials.
  • Financial Close Operations: Contribute to monthly close cycles by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations for technical areas such as debt, equity, leases, and capitalized software.
  • Equity Administration: Manage the equity plan administration system and handle the accounting, tracking, and reporting for share-based compensation and employee stock purchase plans (ESPP).
  • Technical Accounting & Research: Monitor evolving GAAP and SEC guidance, perform technical accounting research, author position memos, and model calculations for complex topics to ensure proper accounting treatment and disclosure.
  • Valuations & Quarterly Evaluations: Prepare quarterly technical evaluations and accounting models, including mark-to-market valuations, SAB 99 assessments, EPS calculations, goodwill/long-lived asset impairment tests, and stock compensation schedules.
  • Audit & Compliance Support: Prepare documentation and coordinate fulfillment of requests for internal and external auditors.
  • SOX & Internal Controls: Maintain ongoing compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal controls over financial reporting across responsible areas.
  • Debt Compliance: Prepare recurring debt covenant calculations and compile required compliance reporting for lenders.
  • FP&A Collaboration & Ad-Hoc Analysis: Partner with the FP&A team on variance analyses, financial schedule tie-outs, annual budgeting, forecasting support, and ad-hoc managerial reporting.
Skills/Abilities
  • Solid working knowledge of US GAAP, SEC rules and regulations, and financial consolidation concepts (including intercompany eliminations and segment reporting).
  • Proven ability to research, interpret, and apply technical accounting guidance to business operations.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Adaptable and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and high-growth environment.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with NetSuite and Workiva is a strong plus.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience required
Certificates/Licenses/Registration
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
Physical Requirements

Work is performed indoors with potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to office work. Could periodically travel to other office and operational sites. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
