Mutual of Omaha is seeking a high-performing leader to join our dynamic team and play a key role in our financial reporting function! We are looking for an experienced professional with extensive expertise in statutory and GAAP accounting and financial reporting for insurance companies. As a leader, you will help set objectives, drive team collaboration, and ensure successful execution while fostering an environment of innovation, learning, and continuous improvement.   • Estimated Salary: $140,000-$180,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead:Collaborate with and develop high-performing teams responsible for financial reporting, financial close, processes and internal controls, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and requirements. Be a champion of automation, technology and process improvement to minimize manual effort and increase the speed and accuracy of all financial reporting processes.
  • Cultivate Relationships:Maintain a positive relationship with regulators, external auditors and internal business partners.
  • Review Financial Statements:Review and provide direction on the preparation and presentation of the statutory and GAAP financial statements, ensuring they are accurate, timely and adhere to applicable accounting principles and policies.
  • Communicate Financial Insights:Analyze, interpret and communicate statutory and GAAP financial results to a variety of audiences. Ensure that complex technical topics are presented clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Expertise in Financial Reporting:An expert understanding of statutory and GAAP accounting guidance and financial operations, including regulatory and audited financial reporting, and internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Analytical and Attention to Detail Skills:Attention to detail and follow-up, analytical acumen and excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage and coordinate multiple competing priorities across projects and teams.
  • Influential Leadership Skills: Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional leaders. Skilled in influencing decision-making, setting clear objectives, and fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Communication Skills:Excellent communication abilities in verbal, non-verbal and in written forms. Clearly articulating complex concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.

PREFERRED:

  • Life and health insurance industry experience.
  • 8+ years of financial reporting experience at an insurance company or Big 4 / regional public accounting firm.
  • Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in establishing and nurturing relationships with regulators or external auditors.
  • Ability to successfully navigate shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
