Job summary

Delta Dental Ins. is seeking a Financial Analyst who will develop and manage division-level budgets and forecasts, analyze financial information, and support decision-making. This hybrid role expects onsite work in Oakland or Rancho Cordova during onboarding, then transitions to less frequent onsite work.

Job Description

The Financial Analyst will develop and manage division‑level budgets and forecasts, analyze, interpret and communicate timely and unbiased financial information to management to inform critical business decisions.

Hybrid position: During the first three months of employment, team members are expected to work onsite approximately three days per week in either our Oakland, CA or Rancho Cordova, CA office for onboarding and training. After this initial period, the role transitions to approximately one day per week onsite. Candidates should be within a reasonable commuting distance of one of these locations.

Base Pay Information: Pay Grade 18, $56,900 – $119,200.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the planning, budgeting and forecasting process by partnering with business owners.
  • Support monthly financial performance reporting and communications, including variance analysis, to functional and finance leaders.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to perform sophisticated, high‑impact persuasive analysis that drives strategic decision‑making for all areas of the business.
  • Support process improvement efforts to achieve operational efficiency.
  • Provide research and analytical support for projects and ad hoc requests.
  • Support development of analysis and models, including key drivers that impact business outcomes.
  • Interpret financial and other data to deliver insights and support decision making for business partners.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years and a bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in financial planning & analysis.
  • Strong organizational/time‑management skills and multitasking abilities.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP and planning applications such as Oracle/Hyperion, SAP, IBM/Cognos (Oracle/Hyperion preferred).
  • Understanding of basic accounting concepts and principles.
  • Able to coordinate work and communicate across disparate groups, functions, and levels in the organization.
  • PC literacy required; excellent MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Knowledge of health insurance industry desirable.
