Job summary

Planet Group in NYC is seeking a Finance & Operations Analyst for a 2-month on-site contract. Working full-time, 9am–5pm, you will handle financial administration, budgeting, and operations support at a university department level.

The ideal candidate has a finance-related degree and 1–2 years of experience, strong Excel skills, and meticulous record-keeping to support DFA processes and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, public administration, or related field or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience in financial administration or related areas.
• Experience with financial data, spreadsheets and basic reporting.
• Strong Excel skills with formulas, filters, and basic reporting.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail for accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Monitors restricted and unrestricted funds and reviews activity against approved budgets.
• Identifies spending trends, variances, open commitments, and overruns for budgeting.
• Supports daily financial transactions: journals, A/R, A/P.
• Performs periodic/ad hoc analyses and reports for the department/school.
• Manages subcontract activity documentation and invoicing with university offices.
• Maintains organized financial records and data for monthly/quarterly reporting.
• Tracks financial commitments and expenditures to aid budget monitoring.
