Job summary

Terra Ag Ventures in California is seeking a highly analytical Financial & Operations Analyst to work with ownership and senior management. The role focuses on financial modeling, acquisitions, budgeting, reporting, and strategic decision-making across our agricultural and real estate portfolio.

You will build multi-year models, analyze costs and market data, and develop dashboards to track farm profitability, capital projects, and cash flow.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Agricultural Business, Real Estate, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to build sophisticated financial models from scratch.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Experience with BI/analytics tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain detailed multi-year financial models for agricultural acquisitions, farm operations, orchard redevelopment projects, real estate development projects, and joint ventures.
  • Analyze commodity pricing, yield projections, water costs, labor costs, fertilizer and input costs, capital expenditures, financing structures, and development economics.
  • Research agricultural and real estate market data, including almonds, pistachios, pecans, cherries, peaches, home prices, lot values, impact fees, and development costs.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools to monitor farm profitability, yields, budget-to-actual performance, commodity pricing, water usage, development project performance, cash flow, and debt metrics.
  • Work closely with farm management teams to review vendor bids, analyze operating costs, evaluate capital projects, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with accounting, bookkeeping, AP/AR, and management teams on lender reporting, partner reporting, budgeting, and cash flow analysis.
  • Develop new KPIs and reporting tools that improve management's ability to monitor and improve performance across the portfolio.

Position Overview
