Advance Memphis is seeking a Financial Literacy Manager to lead our Faith & Finance program, IDA, and expansion efforts in South Memphis. This role emphasizes community impact and collaboration with partners to advance financial education.

You will recruit volunteers, manage program data in Salesforce, provide individual counseling, and work with staff to grow offerings that support residents’ long-term economic stability.

The Financial Literacy Manager helps our neighbors move towards long-term economic stability through financial education. This role is responsible for managing all of Advance Memphis’ financial literacy programming that includes Faith & Finance class, our matched savings program (IDA), and one-on-one financial counseling. This manager also oversees program recruitment, volunteer coordination, and participant data, while identifying opportunities to expand financial literacy offerings to meet the needs of the community. Key Responsibilities

Financial Literacy Training

• Effectively recruiting for each class, keeping in mind the annual goals for number of graduates.

• Manages and coordinates all aspects of the Faith & Finances Program, which includes recruitment and orientation, creating a supportive classroom environment, facilitating classes utilizing the Faith & Finance curriculum, connecting volunteers, ensuring that data is recorded and managed in Salesforce in a timely manner

• Provides one-on-one financial counseling for participants as needed

• Works closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that there are adequate volunteers to act as Allies for the 12-week class sessions

• Maintain communication with core volunteers such as co-facilitators or guest speakers who are committed to the success of this program.

Individual Development Account (IDA)

Advance Memphis offers a matched savings program to graduates of the Faith & Finances class, called Individual Savings Account or IDA

• Manage all IDA-related activities, such as recruiting eligible prospects, ensuring all required paperwork is complete prior to account opening, accompanying each person to the bank to open their IDA, monitoring deposits and withdrawals and asset training completions, ensuring program standards are adhered to through account closure.

• Schedule and hold monthly check-ins with each IDA saver to provide coaching to mitigate missed deposits, assessment of the Saver’s likelihood to continue in the program, and updating Salesforce as appropriate

• Ensure that the Saver understands the requirement and has the resources needed to successfully complete their goal within the given timeframe

• Willingness to assist the Saver in the search for a car or home, making sure that all steps are taken as outlined in the procedures/playbook documentation

• Utilize Salesforce to track all interactions with the Saver such as all calls, visits, conversations, etc.

• Works with the Saver to successfully complete the purchase of their asset prior to the end of the allotted period. This could include additional training classes, car inspections, and the completion of pertinent paperwork and documentation.

• Proactively expand and maintain relationships with external resources that we can network with to ensure success of each IDA Saver. Manages the successful or unsuccessful account closure process effectively utilizing Salesforce for tracking.

Expand Current Financial Literacy Offerings

• Intentionally schedule time to understand the financial and economic needs of our community with the intention to grow our programming efforts. This includes, but is not limited to, meeting with similar programs in our community, learning about the Community Reinvestment Act, and using participant surveys.

• Review current programming and suggest ways to expand its impact within realistic measures.

• Identify and expand our network of resources and relationships that support the financial and economic goals of our class participants. This may include, but is not limited to, financial institutions or other compatible programs that will lead to holistic transformation.

Required Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Must be able to effectively connect with our South Memphis neighbors and exhibit a willingness to listen and patiently guide our neighbors through an often-difficult process

• Financial literacy training or background in a related field is preferred.

• Strong communication skills to distribute unbiased, easily understood information to diverse audiences

• Time management and strong administrative skills and/or the ability and willingness to learn and utilize Salesforce for program tracking

• Exhibit a high level of self-directedness, initiative, and attention to detail when completing any task

Organizational Standards and Accountability:

In addition to the specific tasks previously described, this position is required to contribute significantly to promoting a highly functioning organizational and team-learning environment, and as such, the Financial Literacy Manager should be:

• Able to show a positive attitude and a willingness to work with the Advance Memphis team to share the gospel and help residents of South Memphis

• In attendance at manager and staff meetings as appropriate

• Able to follow through with assignments and complete them in a timely manner

• Able to demonstrate a knowledge of Microsoft Office and intermediate use of Excel or consent to training

• Willing to perform other duties as assigned

• A HS graduate. Bachelor’s degree is preferred
