Job summary

CGS Federal is seeking a Financial Investigator to join our team providing legal support and investigative services to a large federal agency. The role involves planning and conducting investigations, analyzing financial records, preparing reports, and presenting evidence to support prosecutorial objectives.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of four years of investigative experience, knowledge of current techniques, and U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years experience in planning and conducting civil or criminal complex investigations concerning misuse of public, private, or insurance funds.
• Working knowledge of current investigative techniques including the use of commercial databases and other sources of information.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain adjudication for the requisite background investigation.
• Experience in law enforcement.
• Experience in analyzing, organizing, and presenting a large volume of data using common software programs.
• Experience in reviewing and understanding financial records.
• Experience in interviewing potential witnesses.
• Previous experience with the United States Army, Department of Homeland Security, or other large federal agency.

Responsibilities

• Plans and conducts investigations.
• Performs quantitative, qualitative, or other analysis of relevant facts.
• Prepares the results to support the mission.
• Develops and analyzes evidence from other investigators and law enforcement.
• Gathers and analyzes facts including statements, timelines, or technical data.
• Establishes relationships among facts and documents to support litigation.
• Provides analysis relevant to violations of federal law.
• Identifies sources of information and variables.
• Conducts asset investigations and financial analysis to ensure penalties can be paid.
• Develops understanding of applicable law for investigations.
• Devise methods for obtaining, preserving, and presenting evidence.
• Works with paralegals or attorneys to determine applicable law.
• Performs ancillary services in support of cases.
• Uses databases to identify assets and evidence.
• Prepares interim and final reports on investigations.
• Assists in compiling and presenting documents and exhibits for motions and trials.
• Prepares affidavits and testifies in court.
• Advises on planning, scheduling, and conducting investigations.
• Examines financial records pertaining to transactions under investigation.
