Zurich is currently looking to hire an experienced Financial Institutions Underwriter, Wholesale E&S (Mid-Senior or Senior) to join our Wholesale Financial Institution team! This position is dedicated to the wholesale broker channel and presents a great opportunity to join our Financial Institution team in Chicago. While Chicago is the preferred location, we are also open to candidates in New York City, Chicago, or Atlanta.

In this role, you will underwrite and perform financial analysis across financial institution risks. The position will have technical, transactional, and market-facing responsibilities; and it will also contribute to product/proposition development, marketing, fulfillment, and portfolio management.

Responsibilities include:

• Generating, underwriting, and analyzing financial institution new and renewal policies.
• Market-facing and production work with wholesale brokers.
• Administering and monitoring underwriting rules, guidelines, insurance laws, regulations, and rating manual rules.
• Working within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments.
• Managing a portfolio of accounts and developing a pipeline of business.
• Collaborating and cross-selling with other stakeholders and lines of business within Zurich.

This role will be filled at either the Mid-Senior or Senior level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based on the applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed.

Mid-Senior Financial Institution Underwriter Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3+ years of experience in underwriting or market-facing roles.
  OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support.
  OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1+ years of experience in underwriting or market-facing roles.
  OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 4+ years in claims or underwriting support.
  AND
• Knowledge of lines of business, legal, and regulatory guidelines.
• Knowledge of time constraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

Senior Financial Institution Underwriter Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of experience in underwriting or market-facing roles.
  OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of experience in claims or underwriting support.
  OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years in underwriting or market-facing roles.
  OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8+ years in claims or underwriting support.
  AND
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience working under time constraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience working in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Underwriting experience with financial institution products.
• Established wholesale broker relationships in the targeted region.
• Service-oriented and responsive.
• Strong negotiation skills.

At Zurich, compensation is influenced by various factors including location, role, skills, and experience. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $165,000, with specific ranges for Mid-Senior ($90,000 - $135,000) and Senior ($115,000 - $165,000) levels, plus incentive bonuses.
