Job summary

Northeast Community Clinic is seeking a Financial Eligibility Worker to assist patients without insurance. You will review schedules, identify eligible individuals, and help enroll families into suitable programs.

You will educate families on options, complete enrollment and redetermination forms, and follow up to secure required documents. The role requires bilingual English/Spanish and flexible scheduling, including some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Microsoft Office proficiency required.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

  • Review provider schedules and identify patients with no medical insurance coverage.
  • Educate families on health insurance programs and qualifications.
  • Enroll patients based on qualifications and assist with enrollment forms.
  • Assist with initial enrollment and redetermination paperwork.
  • Follow up to ensure required documentation is submitted and inform patients of coverage status.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by clinic leadership.

Position SummaryThe Financial Eligibility Worker will assist NECC patients that do not have medical insurance coverage. This position will be responsible for assisting patients with the application process and enrolling the patient into various insurance programs if qualified.Schedule:Flexible, may require some evening and weekendsPrimary Duties and ResponsibilitiesReview Provider schedules and identify patients with no medical insurance coverageNewbornsChildren previously seen under Gateway and/or Public Private Partnership (PPP) ProgramPatient with Share of CostScreen Families and educate them on various health insurance programs available and necessary qualificationsEnroll patients according to their qualificationsAssist patients with all necessary forms for initial enrollment and redetermination process, as necessaryAssist patients with all other necessary forms and paperwork pertaining to health insurance coverageConduct follow-up with applicants to ensure any and all required documentation and paperwork is submitted and inform patients of any approved health insurance coverageOther duties as assigned by the HCC Coder, Clinic Manager or Operations DirectorSecondary Duties and ResponsibilitiesAct as a patient advocate and a liaison between patients and the clinic, ensuring 100% patient satisfactionIdentify and resolve issues that could lead to member dissatisfaction and could affect member retention.Help Patients with Insurance questions.Minimum RequirementsMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Excellent Communication SkillsExcellent Customer ServiceBilingual English/Spanish preferredAbility to work as a team player and work independentlyReliable transportationMust be able to travel from facility to facilityThis position requires 10 % travel outside the local area.Required Education/Experience and/or Licensure/CertificationHigh school diploma or GED equivalent1 year minimum experience in similar job related dutiesCommitment to goals and philosophy of Northeast Community ClinicValid State IdentificationPhysical Requirements and Working ConditionsOSHA Category 2 – Involves no regular exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but may require unplanned tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.The work is majority of the time sedentary in nature.The employee is regularly required to communicate, frequently required to use repetitive motions, move, remain stationary, regularly push, pull and lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds.Must possess mobility to work in a standard office/clinic setting (in some cases both settings) and to use standard office/clinic equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, read printed materials and use a computer, and communicate in person and over the telephone.
