Smith Arnold Partners is seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead the finance function for a Business Unit within a global manufacturing organization. This role acts as a strategic partner to the General Manager, influencing growth, margins, and operational performance from the BU level.

You will own FP&A, long-range planning, and capital decisions, while guiding a finance team across a matrixed, international structure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA preferred.
• CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification strongly desired.
• 8–15 years of progressive accounting and finance experience in a publicly traded manufacturing environment with leadership.

Responsabilités

• Serve as the primary financial advisor to the Business Unit GM, helping shape growth strategies and drive performance.
• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and long-range strategic planning with full P&L ownership.
• Partner with operations and commercial leadership on pricing, productivity, cost optimization, inventory management, and profitability initiatives.
• Develop sophisticated financial models to evaluate capital investments, new products, make-or-buy decisions, restructuring, and other strategic opportunities.
• Lead financial aspects of M&A activities, including target evaluation, due diligence, valuation, and integration.
• Analyze customer and product profitability, sales incentives, and commercial trends to support strategic decision-making.
• Oversee financial reporting, internal controls, SOX compliance, and adherence to US GAAP.
• Lead and develop the finance team while collaborating across a matrixed, international organization.

Title: Business Unit Finance Director

Location: Fairfield County, CT

Salary: $165,000 – $195,000 +Bonus

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

• CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification strongly desired.
• Approximately 8 – 15 years of progressive accounting & finance experience within a publicly traded manufacturing environment, including financial leadership and team management.
• Strong background in accounting, financial reporting, FP&A, operations finance, and advanced financial modeling.
• Experience with manufacturing cost accounting, financial systems, and internal controls.
• Familiarity with SAP, BlackLine, and OneStream preferred.
• Experience with international operations, multicurrency reporting, and complex organizational structures.
• Exceptional communication, analytical, and business partnering skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership.
