About WattEV

WattEV is building the first true zero-emission freight transportation platform. With electric truck depots across California and more in development, we are creating the infrastructure, technology, and operations to transform how freight moves—faster, cleaner, and smarter. As we grow, we’re looking for arare breed of Financial Controller: partfinancial architect, part IT systems thinker, and part field operator.

The Role

This isn’t a desk-bound accounting job. AsFinancial Controller, you will report directly to the President and be responsible forbuilding and leading a lean, high-output finance and operations engine. You’ll need to behands-on in the numbers, fluent inautomation tools and AI workflows, andcurious about how the business works on the ground. You willroll up your sleeves,spend time in the field, and deeply understand operational bottlenecks. Then you’ll helpautomate or outsourcethem with smart systems, lean staffing, and clear data.

What You’ll Do

• Own the full accounting cycle: GL, AP/AR, close, reconciliations, compliance
• Work with the team that build dashboards, models, and workflows in Excel
• Use or implementAI toolsto streamline and digitize workflows
• Go into the field—talk to ops teams, drivers, and facility leads—map how things work andfind where automation or offshoring can add value
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Establish internal controls and lean processes as we scale
• Report directly to the President and collaborate with leadership across Operations, and Profitability

What We’re Looking For

• Intelligent, curious, and hands-on
• 8+ years in accounting/finance roles
• Expert-level Excel/Google Sheets user– you build models, not just plug intothem
• Familiarity withAI tools, automation platforms, databases, and low/no-code tools
• Tech-first mindset: you think in terms of systems, integrations, and leverage
• High operational IQ: you don’t just crunch numbers—you know how the work gets done
• Comfortable talking to field teams as much as the C-suite
• Able to design and execute offshoring plans for repetitive desk work
• Strong communicator and systems-thinker

• Experience in transportation, energy, infrastructure, or labor-heavy businesses
• Prior leadership in offshore team integration or workflow digitization
