Star Service, Inc. of Mobile is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance team in Mobile, AL. The role will supervise two accounting staff, manage the general ledger, and participate in month-end closes, forecasting, and budgeting.

Responsibilities include overseeing payroll, tax support, and contract/project accounting while driving process improvements in a fast-paced HVAC service environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience in the trade, construction, or service industry preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Great Plains/Dynamics GP a plus).
• Supervisory/leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly close processes including accruals, journal entries, reconciliations, and internal audits.
• Manage general ledger activities ensuring GAAP compliance and accuracy.
• Oversee invoicing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes.
• Monitor cash flow, prepare forecasts, and support budgeting.
• Assist with tax preparation, compliance, and reporting.
• Supervise accounting staff and mentor the team.
