The Company

The Role

As a Controller at Swan Bitcoin, you will play a pivotal role in managing various aspects of financial operations and the financial close and reporting of our organization. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of at least 5-10 years of hands-on experience in accounting and/or audit in a public company setting. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide strategic financial guidance to support business objectives.

Your responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations to ensure accurate bookkeeping in compliance with US GAAP accounting standards
  • Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and accruals, with the objective of ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial records
  • Prepare financial statements and other accounting memos and disclosures to ensure compliance with key standards such as ASC 606, ASC 718, and ASC 842
  • Analyze financial reports to provide timely and insightful recommendations to Swan leadership
  • Partner closely with third parties to manage annual audits, filings, taxes, and other corporate accounting activities
  • Assist in the development and documentation of robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial reporting completeness and accuracy
  • Evaluate, design, and implement financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency
Skills and experience that will help you succeed
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA designation strongly preferred
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Auditor with at least 5-10 years of professional accounting/audit experience in a public company setting. Big 4 or large national public accounting experience is required
  • Comprehensive understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in financial management software. Experience with NetSuite preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership and effective communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment
  • Must be eligible to work in the US
  • Compensation for this role will be based on location and experience, and may include base salary, equity, and benefits
