What You'll Do

Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Financial Controller will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain internal controls, and contribute to operational efficiency and cost management. This role is critical in supporting business decisions through detailed financial analysis and reporting.

Daily Responsibilities
  • Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure full compliance with GAAP/IFRS, company policies, and all regulatory requirements
  • Establish and maintain strong accounting processes and internal controls, with emphasis on revenue recognition and inventory costing
  • Lead and manage all internal and external audit activities, serving as the primary site contact
  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, with full ownership of P&L, CAPEX, and net working capital
  • Partner with the General Manager and manufacturing leadership to develop and execute plant financial plans aligned with operational objectives
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and deliver actionable insights to drive results
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities, implementing corrective actions to ensure financial targets are achieved
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance standard costing systems
  • Analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and profitability drivers, providing clear recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate closely with operations to support production planning, material cost management, and cost-to-complete analysis
  • Build and refine financial tools and dashboards to deliver timely, actionable insights to plant leadership
  • Provide detailed analysis of product cost standards versus actual performance, identifying root causes and improvement opportunities
  • Oversee inventory valuation and cycle count programs
  • Ensure accurate accounting for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
  • Partner with site leadership to develop capital expenditure proposals supported by robust financial analysis and ROI justification
  • Track and evaluate actual performance against capital investment projections, recommending actions to improve outcomes
  • Identify and implement process improvements and best practices to enhance financial and operational efficiency
  • Oversee cash flow planning and liquidity management
  • Coordinate financing requirements and maintain banking relationships
  • Implement and monitor internal control systems to safeguard company assets
  • Prepare and deliver financial reporting, budgets, and analysis to Corporate Finance
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of shared services activities, including reconciliations and risk identification
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and compliant work environment in accordance with safety and quality standards
  • Participate in meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead or support special projects and other duties as assigned
Team Management
  • Support and enhance financial systems and reporting tools, including ERP platforms (e.g., Epicor)
  • Partner with IT to improve the accuracy and efficiency of revenue recognition and financial data processes
  • Ensure alignment with corporate IT and continuous improvement initiatives to standardize processes across divisions
  • Collaborate with operations, materials, and production teams to support strategic and operational goals
  • Partner with other business unit Controllers to drive alignment and share best practices
  • Serve as a business partner and change agent, leveraging financial insights to improve business performance beyond accounting
  • Hold Accounting Team accountable to goals and objectives set by the Company
  • Train and mentor new team members and be an ambassador of our culture
  • Delegate job assignments and review workload as necessary
  • Maintain employee schedules such as approving time‑off & staff coverage
  • Collaborate with Human Resources for employee performance discussions, recruitment needs, hiring, and terminations
  • Work to resolve interpersonal issues and conflicts as they arise
  • Lead performance and compensation reviews for direct reports
  • Develop employees and facilitate career conversation, including feedback for promotions or additional professional development
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification required
  • 10+ years of progressive financial experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems (Epicor preferred), and financial reporting tools
  • Extensive experience in cost accounting in a job cost environment that records revenue under a percentage of completion revenue recognition model is essential
  • Experience across the full complement of accounting duties including but not limited to budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and inventory management
  • Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Able to create and improve complex spreadsheets to analyze historical trends and make business recommendations and improve business performance
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills
  • Demonstrates high level of Emotional Intelligence when dealing with all levels of the company, clients, and vendors
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn other software
  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
  • Ability to effectively manage time, multi‑task, and pay close attention to details
  • Self‑motivated professional with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Regularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the day
