Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting/controller experience; biotech or life sciences manufacturing experience incl. pass-through activities.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls; SOX/compliance experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage all accounting operations: general ledger, AP/AR, fixed assets, intercompany.
• Lead month-end and year-end close; produce timely, accurate financial statements and reports.
• Oversee payroll, cost accounting, and pricing-related activities.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury controls; oversee banking relations.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls; coordinate audits.
• Develop and coach the finance team; assign goals and provide guidance.
• Support tax, statutory filings, and grant reporting as applicable.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, R&D, Operations, and Commercial to optimize processes and profitability.
• Lead ERP/financial systems initiatives; maintain chart of accounts and data integrity.
• Develop scalable accounting policies and procedures; document processes.

The Financial Controller will drive the integrity of financial reporting and the financial planning process for August Bioservices. Additionally, they will lead accounting operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide strategic financial insights to enable scalable growth in the biotech sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.

• Lead month-end and year-end close processes;oversee thetimely,accuratemonthly financial statements and management reports, including board,lenderand investorreporting.

• Support the development ofappropriate accountingactivities for key workstreams for August Bio includingpayroll,manufacturingand cost accounting, as well as customer deposit andpass throughactivities,

• Oversee cash flow management, working capital optimization, and treasury controls; manage banking relationships.

• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls; implement and maintaininternalcontrols; coordinate internal and external audits.

• Manage and develop the finance team; assign responsibilities, set goals, and provide coaching.

• Support regulatory and compliance reporting (tax, statutory filings, grant reporting if applicable).

• Collaborate withmanufacturing,R&D, operations, and commercial teams to driveappropriate accountingprocesses,cost containment, pricing strategy, and profitability optimization.

• Lead ERP/financial systems initiatives; own chart of accounts, cost centers, financial data integrity, and automation opportunities.

• Develop scalable accounting policies and procedures; document processes andmaintainrobust internal controls.

• Support financial planning and analysis activities including forecasting, providing analysis of results versus forecast, and supporting pricing decisions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.

• 10+ years of progressive accounting/controller experience; biotech or life sciencesand manufacturingexperience(including pass through activities).Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls; experience with SOX/compliance frameworks.

• Proven experience with ERP systemimplementation andmaintenance(e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and financial consolidation.

• Advanced Excel skills; experience with BI tools and financial planning software.

• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership abilities; ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

• Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset and problem-solving skills.

• Experience in early-stage or growth-stage companies; familiarity withERP implementations.

• Knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition and cost accounting methodologies.
