Key Responsibilities:

• Manage all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.
• Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes; oversee the timely, accurate monthly financial statements and management reports, including board, lender and investor reporting.
• Support the development of appropriate accounting activities for key workstreams for August Bio including payroll, manufacturing and cost accounting, as well as customer deposit and pass through activities.
• Oversee cash flow management, working capital optimization, and treasury controls; manage banking relationships.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls; implement and maintain internal controls; coordinate internal and external audits.
• Manage and develop the finance team; assign responsibilities, set goals, and provide coaching.
• Support regulatory and compliance reporting (tax, statutory filings, grant reporting if applicable).
• Collaborate with manufacturing, R&D, operations, and commercial teams to drive appropriate accounting processes, cost containment, pricing strategy, and profitability optimization.
• Lead ERP/financial systems initiatives; own chart of accounts, cost centers, financial data integrity, and automation opportunities.
• Develop scalable accounting policies and procedures; document processes and maintain robust internal controls.
• Support financial planning and analysis activities including forecasting, providing analysis of results versus forecast, and supporting pricing decisions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting/controller experience; biotech or life sciences and manufacturing experience (including pass through activities). Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls; experience with SOX/compliance frameworks.
• Proven experience with ERP system implementation and maintenance (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle) and financial consolidation.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with BI tools and financial planning software.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership abilities; ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced environment.
• Detail‑oriented with a strategic mindset and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience in early‑stage or growth‑stage companies; familiarity with ERP implementations.
• Knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition and cost accounting methodologies.
