Job summary

Northwest Career College is seeking a proactive Financial Collections Specialist to support student account collections and payment recovery. The role focuses on direct telephone outreach to resolve past-due balances and coordinate collections from outside agencies on behalf of students.

The ideal candidate combines strong follow-through with a professional, student-centered approach and will work from the Las Vegas location.

Qualifications

• Experience in collections, accounts receivable, billing, or high-volume outbound calling preferred.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution abilities.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple accounts with accuracy and discretion.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace and learning billing systems.

Responsibilities

• Make frequent outbound calls to students with outstanding tuition to encourage payment.
• Review balances, payment histories, and reports to guide outreach.
• Explain payment options and secure commitments, follow up on missed payments.
• Prepare and send invoices to third-party payers and follow up for resolution.
• Document communications, commitments, and invoice status in systems.
• Meet collection targets and escalate complex matters to the Finance Manager.

Job Summary

Northwest Career College is seeking a proactive, results-driven Financial Collections Specialist to support studentaccount collections and payment recovery. This position focuses on direct telephone outreach, resolving past-due tuition balances, and coordinating payment collection from outside companies and agencies on behalf of students. The idealcandidate combines strong follow-through with a professional, student-centered approach.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Conduct frequent outbound phone calls to students with outstanding or past-due tuition balances to encourage timely payment and reduce delinquency.
• Review student account balances, payment histories, and collection reports to prioritize outreach and explain financial obligations.
• Discuss available payment options within college guidelines, secure payment commitments, and follow up on missed or upcoming payments.
• Prepare and send tuition invoices to outside companies and agencies on behalf of students; follow up with those payers to obtain payment and resolve outstanding invoices.
• Accurately document student and third-party communications, payment commitments, invoice status, and follow-up actions in designated systems.
• Meet outreach and collection performance expectations, help prevent escalation of delinquent accounts, and refer exceptions or complex matters to the Finance Manager.

Experience

• Prior experience in collections, accounts receivable, billing, customer service, or high-volume outbound calling preferred.

Skills and Qualifications

• Confident telephone communicator comfortable making frequent outbound calls and requesting payment.
• Persistent and goal-oriented while maintaining empathy, professionalism, and positive student relationships
• Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities
• Ability to prioritize account queues, manage invoices, and follow through consistently with students and third-party payers
• Accurate recordkeeping, attention to detail, and commitment to confidentiality.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace and ability to learn student account and billing systems.
