Role Description

The Financial Coach is a full-time, on-site role based in Newark, NJ, providing direct support to individuals and families seeking to improve their financial stability and long-term economic well-being. In this role, the coach will meet with clients to assess financial situations, set realistic goals, and develop personalized action plans covering budgeting, savings, debt reduction, and credit building. The Financial Coach will deliver one-on-one coaching and group workshops, offer financial education on key topics, and connect clients with appropriate NCC and community resources. Daily responsibilities include tracking client progress, maintaining accurate records, collaborating with internal programs and external partners, and contributing to outreach efforts to engage new participants. The coach will promote a respectful, inclusive environment that empowers clients to make informed financial decisions.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Financial Coaching and Financial Education to guide and empower clients through one-on-one and group sessions.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Financial Planning and Personal Finance to help clients create budgets, manage debt, build savings, and plan for future goals.
  • Candidates should possess a solid foundation in Finance to interpret financial information, explain products and services, and ensure accurate guidance.
  • Relevant skills such as excellent communication, active listening, cultural competency, and the ability to build trust with diverse populations are highly beneficial.
  • Experience working in community-based organizations or social services, and familiarity with urban communities, is preferred.
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, social work, counseling, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience, is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational skills, comfort with maintaining documentation and using basic office software, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams are important.
