Job Description

The incumbent will be responsible for obtaining and verifying necessary demographic and insurance information, including authorizations, referrals, and notifications for diagnostic, surgical, therapy, admissions, observations, and other procedures or treatments. The role involves scheduling patients' appointments and procedures (initial, follow-up, and/or add-on) as applicable. This position requires working in a call center environment and meeting individual quality metrics such as productivity, accuracy, and customer service quality assurance. The incumbent will coordinate patient flow, ensure timely processing, and maintain knowledge of practices used within the department, physician practice, or hospital to address patient questions or concerns. Knowledge of insurance requirements, Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF) pricing, financial assistance options, and overall revenue cycle operations is essential. The role exemplifies Baptist Health’s philosophy of service excellence by providing professional, compassionate, and friendly service to patients of all ages, families, employees, physicians, and community members.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma, certificate, GED, training, or experience.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, team player, compassionate, with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred: Basic knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
  • Experience with computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, EMR systems) and accurate typing skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory guidelines including HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare coverage and medical necessity compliance.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish or Creole is preferred.
