Overview

THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION BUT CANDIDATE MUST RESIDE IN MINNESOTA

The Financial Analyst is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting and reforecasting for Reading & Math, Inc. This includes grant, program, state and company-wide budgeting, reporting against budgets and reforecasting through the year. All budgets must adhere to AmeriCorps rules and regulations, and OMB regulations including 2 CFR 200. Grant budget must also meet all grant application requirements. Financial Analyst must observe confidentiality of all accounting, payroll, employee, member and organizational information.

Responsibilities
  • Company Budgeting, Reforecasting, Analysis and Reporting (40%): Responsible for company budgeting process, including development of timelines, and obtaining inputs from various stakeholders. Gather and quantify for leadership staff planning inputs, including staff adds, merit and other increase assumptions, both in total and by program. Gather and quantify member enrollment expectations, develop payout metrics and member health insurance assumptions. Ensure consistency between grant budget applications and company budget. Develop monthly reporting and variance analysis for key stakeholders. Complete reforecasts on at least a quarterly basis for both grants and company budgets. Develop reports and key highlights for board presentations.
  • AmeriCorps and other Funding Budgeting, Analysis and Reporting (35%): Prepare AmeriCorps grant budgets using a consistent process to ensure completeness, consistency, and timely completion. Gather and document inputs from grants accounting, program leadership and grants management. Responsible for ensuring AmeriCorps budgets meet documented requirements including match requirements and administrative limits. Identify, communicate, and resolve any budget concerns or issues. Enter or coordinate AmeriCorps budget entry into eGrants by deadlines.
  • Other Analysis and Reporting (25%): Help guide creation of allocations that assist in effectively allocating costs across appropriate grants. Update such allocations at least quarterly. Work with grants accounting, accounting operations and other leadership to develop and maintain consistent metrics used in the budgeting process. Work with company leaders to identify, create and report key business metrics. Prepare ad hoc analysis as needed and/or requested. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent experience
Minimum Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years progressive analysis and/or budgeting experience.
  • Familiarity with AmeriCorps programs a plus.
  • Experience with government funding, grant reporting and fund accounting methodologies is a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Working knowledge of database and accounting computer application systems.
  • Experience with budgeting software preferred
  • Oracle NetSuite and UKG experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated competence in complex problem solving and process improvement.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, time management and organization skills.
  • Professional demeanor, good interpersonal skills, self-motivated and customer service orientation.
  • Must have the ability to travel locally, statewide and nationally to attend meetings
