Financial Analyst – Profitability & Pricing

About the Role

Rize Federal Credit Union is looking for a Financial Analyst – Profitability & Pricing to own how we price our products and measure what they earn. You'll maintain our funds transfer pricing methodology, produce the monthly pricing package and the rate recommendations within it, and run profitability analysis across our product set and our consolidated credit union service organization.

This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Vice President, Finance.

What You'll Do
Funds transfer pricing and profitability
  • Own and maintain the funds transfer pricing methodology, including documentation, periodic review, and the monthly transfer rates applied to each product.
  • Produce quarterly profitability analysis by product, portfolio, branch, and delivery channel.
  • Perform the monthly profitability system upload and produce the resulting reporting.
  • Produce risk-adjusted return on capital analysis for lending products and portfolios.
  • Analyze fee income by source and review our fee schedule against the market.
  • Produce the monthly loan and share pricing analysis with an explicit rate recommendation and the analysis behind it.
  • Produce the monthly loan and deposit rate survey of our competitive set, and analyze our rates against that set and our own margin requirements.
  • Maintain current market rate inputs, including Federal Home Loan Bank advance rates and competitor rates and fee schedules.
  • Maintain the certificate rollover tracking log and analyze retention against offered rates by tier and term.
  • Produce deposit trend analysis and projections by product and tier.
Loan production and member analytics
  • Produce monthly loan production reporting, including the loan waterfall and new loan analysis by channel, term, and credit tier.
  • Track member acquisition and retention and analyze them against pricing actions, incorporating new membership reporting into the pricing analysis.
Pricing committee
  • Prepare the pricing committee agenda and executive summary.
  • Record and issue the committee minutes.
  • Assemble and distribute the final pricing package.
Reporting integrity and automation
  • Produce recurring deliverables using the department's analytical and automation tooling, and verify every published figure against its source before release.
  • Analyze cost of funds, comparing Federal Home Loan Bank advance rates, the U.S. Treasury yield curve, and our own cost of funds.
  • Produce the monthly Treasury Curve Report for the Asset Liability Committee.
  • Retrieve monthly investment data files from our investment reporting platform.
What You Bring
Required
  • At least 3 years of financial analysis experience, preferably in a financial institution
  • Direct experience with funds transfer pricing: methodology selection, rate construction, documentation, and ongoing maintenance
  • Demonstrated experience in deposit and loan pricing analysis, including making and defending rate recommendations to a pricing or management committee
  • Experience operating a profitability measurement system at the product, branch, or member level
  • Understanding of net interest margin mechanics and how pricing decisions move it
  • Familiarity with deposit behavior, certificate rollover behavior, and price elasticity in a retail financial institution
  • Demonstrated ownership of a recurring deliverable through a full production cycle, including reconciliation and integrity checks, whether manual or automated
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, PivotTables, and other methods of working with large datasets
  • Experience with a profitability or funds transfer pricing platform
  • Familiarity with SQL and the ability to write queries against loan and deposit level detail
  • Experience with a general ledger system, including retrieving account-level detail and reconciling a report to it
Preferred
  • MBA, CFA, CMA, or Certified Corporate FP&A Professional
  • Experience with data visualization software such as Power BI or Tableau
How You Work
  • Ability to specify a deliverable before producing it: the objective, the check that proves the result correct, and the ordered steps
  • Understanding of how datasets are structured, including what uniquely identifies a record and how combining two sources can duplicate or drop records
  • Understanding of why a repeatable process must produce the same result when run twice, and of the controls that prevent double-counting or overwriting a prior period
  • Ability to describe an error in terms of the expected result, the observed result, and where the two diverge
  • Ability to document a recurring process well enough that another team member can run it without help
  • Sound judgment in handling member-level data, including recognizing when aggregated figures will do instead of identifiable records
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a friendly and professional demeanor
  • Ability to present analytical results to audiences without a finance background, including the Board of Directors
  • Composure under deadlines that demand extreme accuracy, and the ability to juggle multiple, changing priorities
  • A high level of integrity, the highest level of discretion on confidential matters, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • This is a primarily sedentary, onsite role at our Irwindale headquarters, in a climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
  • You'll work at a computer an average of 6–8 hours a day and occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
  • You must be able to work extended hours when required or requested by management, and to climb or descend stairs in an emergency.
  • Occasional travel may be required for meetings, conferences, and training.
  • Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Location: Headquarters – Irwindale, CA (Remote and Hybrid Option is available)
  • Salary range (California residents): $77,000 – $99,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Reports to: Vice President, Finance
  • Work environment: primarily sedentary, computer-based work in a shared office; extended hours may be required at times and occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and training
