Qualifications

  • Familiarity with GAAP concepts and applying accounting principles to diverse portfolios.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced setting.
  • Comfort collaborating across time zones with on-site and offshore teams.
  • Willingness to work on-site in the Seattle office four days per week.
  • Pursuit of CFA/CPA/MBA is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Holding Company CFO to support strategic expansion through financial analysis and business cases.
  • Coordinate with underwriting and FP&A leaders to ensure financial performance supports the Holding Company strategy.
  • Prepare management reporting packages and Board-level updates for senior leadership.
  • Provide long-range planning, investment analysis, and due diligence for strategic initiatives.
  • Build and maintain financial models to support planning, trend analysis and scenario evaluation.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Product, Claims, IT and Actuarial on special projects and initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

The Financial Analyst I at the Mutual of Enumclaw Holding Company is a unique, entry-level role reporting directly to the Holding Company CFO, who is responsible for growing and expanding revenue and profit beyond traditional insurance underwriting operations. This role will aid in building the strategic roadmap, conducting industry research and analysis, and supporting Holding Company-level planning, including business case development, management and Board-level presentations, financial forecasting, and analysis.

Location: The successful candidate will work at our office in Seattle, WA (Must live within driving distance of our Office).

Hiring Range: $70,400 - $78,200

Salary Range:$70,400 - $86,100

Candidates with more experience may be considered for a Financial Analyst II position. Compensation and position will be commensurate with experience.

Financial Analyst II

Hiring Range: $77,000 - $86,300*

Salary Range: $77,000 - $98,900

Responsibilities
  • Partners with the Holding Company CFO to support strategic expansion of non-core operations, including financial analysis, business case development, and executive-level presentations.
  • Works closely with the Mutual of Enumclaw underwriting company CFO and FP&A leader to ensure financial performance supports the expansion of the Holding Company strategy.
  • Prepares management reporting packages, including supporting Board-level strategic updates for the Holding Company CFO and senior leadership.
  • Provides strategic FP&A support, including long-range planning, capital and investment analysis, M&A due diligence, and interpretation of insurance-specific metrics such as premium, combined ratio, and PTOI.
  • Builds and maintains financial models and spreadsheets to support planning, trend analysis, and scenario evaluation, including in support of Investment Management and Reinsurance strategy.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with Finance, Product Management, Claims, IT and Actuarial on special projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong Finance and Accounting acumen with working knowledge of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) and core financial principles, with a strong desire to expand knowledge base and capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present financial information to non-financial audiences.
  • Ability to leverage AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) to accelerate learning, improve efficiency, and automate processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with financial modeling skills and the ability to adapt AI tools to accelerate analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with GAAP accounting concepts and ability to apply accounting principles to an expanding business portfolio.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort collaborating across time zones and cultures with on-site and offshore team members.
  • Self-motivated with a continuous-learning mindset and the adaptability to shift priorities as business needs evolve.
  • Ability to work on-site in the Seattle office four days per week.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field required; a strong academic record (5 GPA or better) preferred.
  • New and recent graduates or expected graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Insurance industry coursework, internship experience, or knowledge (e.g., P&C fundamentals, NAIC statutory reporting) is a plus but not required.
  • Progress toward, or interest in pursuing, a professional credential (e.g., CFA, CPA, MBA) is a plus.
