Mercor is seeking an Accounting Expert (contract) to design precise grading criteria for accounting deliverables, score AI-generated and human samples, and provide detailed written justifications. The role emphasizes consistent, evidence-based judgment and collaboration with senior reviewers to iterate quickly on model performance.

Qualified candidates have CPA or equivalent certification, 5+ years of accounting experience, and deep fluency in US GAAP, month-end close, and audit-ready

• 5+ years of professional accounting experience.
• Background in audit, assurance, or advisory at leading global accounting firms, or in senior accounting roles at large public companies.
• CPA or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
• Deep fluency in US GAAP application, month-end close, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and audit-ready workpapers.
• Exceptionally strong written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, with peer-reviewed judgment.

• Design precise, task-specific grading criteria for real-world accounting deliverables such as reconciliations, close packages, and financial statements.
• Score AI-generated and human work samples against established criteria, providing detailed written justifications for every score.
• Apply consistent, evidence-based judgment to ensure scores are reproducible and defensible.
• Incorporate structured feedback from senior reviewers and iterate quickly on your work.
• Collaborate independently and asynchronously to enhance AI model performance in accounting tasks.

Qualifications Must-Have
