Job summary

Penguin Random House in New York is seeking a Financial Analyst to join our US Finance team reporting to the Finance Manager. The role covers monthly close tasks, financial reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting.

The position is hybrid, based in New York, with 2-3 days on site at the 1745 Broadway location, and offers a comprehensive benefits package and eligibility for annual bonus.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of business experience in a finance / accounting role or related analytical role.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills require performance with large data sets and advanced functions.
  • Strong commercial/technical capability and general accounting skills.
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate and clearly report financial data.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage workload to tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Monthly close tasks and journal preparation for the financial close process.
  • Own reporting packages and ad-hoc sales and cost analysis.
  • Incorporate technological advancements while improving processes.
  • Evaluate financial performance against budget, forecast, and prior year.
  • Support budgeting and rolling forecasts; assist with board presentations.

  • Budgeting
    • Assist in the preparation of the budget and rolling forecasts, ensuring accuracy through analytical review.
    • SupportinthepreparationofthebudgetpackforpresentationtotheDKBoard.
    • LiasewithUKfinancecolleaguesonkeydeliverables,includingintercompany purchasesandotherintercompanycharges.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of business experience in a finance / accounting role or related analytical role. Publishing experience is preferred.
  • Advance MS Excel skills are mandatory for this role. Must be able to easily manipulatelargevolumes ofdataanduseadvanced formulassuchas LOOKUPS,INDEX,MATCH, Pivottablesetc.
  • Strongcommercial/technicalcapabilityandgeneralaccountingskills.
  • Abilitytoanalyze,evaluateandclearlyreportfinancialdata.
  • Abilitytocommunicatewithbothfinancialandnon-financialcolleagues.
  • Provenabilitytoprioritizeandproactivelymanageownworkloadtotightdeadlines.

Additional Information

The Penguin Random House national headquarters is located in New York City.This is a hybrid position, requiring approximately 2 - 3 days per week at our 1745 Broadway location.

The salary range for this position is $66,500 – $70,000, commensurate with experience. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
