Job summary

IES Commercial, Inc. - DBA IES Electrical in Suffolk, Virginia is seeking a full-time Financial Analyst. The role prepares and analyzes financial data, maintains ledgers, and supports monthly close with balance sheets and P&L statements.

You will audit transactions, enforce internal controls, and ensure compliance with applicable laws. Candidates should hold a Bachelor's in finance or equivalent, be proficient in Excel, and comfortable handling confidential information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance or equivalent.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Current knowledge of computer systems, MS Office, and Spectrum is a plus.
• Attention-to-Detail skill.
• Strong communication (oral and written) and detailed organizational skills.
• Must be hands‑on, self‑starter with ability to manage multiple priorities/projects, to collaborate, communicate, and build working relationships with all levels of employees and management.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and judgment when dealing with sensitive financial issues.
• Successfully pass pre‑employment (post offer) background check, and MVR check when responsibilities require operating motor vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
• Documents financial transactions such as, but not limited to, entering journal entries, asset records, and inventory.
• Maintains prepaid dues and subscriptions schedules.
• Summarizes current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports.
• Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
• Reconciles general ledger and sub-ledger accounts.
• Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
• Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
• Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
• Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
• Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
