Job description

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Financial Analyst – Decision Support. In this role, the successful candidate will work under the guidance of the Director of DSS and be responsible for producing financial reports and analyses that assist in monitoring the hospital’s financial performance. The role includes monthly and quarterly reporting, ad hoc reporting, and projects using the EPSi decision support/cost accounting system, Tableau, Tableau Prep, Data Bricks, Alteryx, Excel (including pivot tables, vlookups, and advanced formulas), SQL, and other relevant software.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the internal costing system (EPSi) and run accurate EPSi reports; understand the relationship between the various EPSi fields and potential restrictions for stakeholder decisions.
  • Support day‑to‑day operations related to the ongoing maintenance and processing of the EPSi Decision Support System; cost accounting and contract modeling.
  • Support new and ongoing projects related to contract modeling, cost saving opportunities, physician resource utilization analyses, quality/cost analysis, and dashboard creation/review.
  • Support the Hospital’s Value Based Management projects, financial dashboards, benchmarking activities, and other projects as needed.
  • Package and summarize analytical findings with clear results and thoughtful recommendations.
  • Work with large, complex data sets accurately.
  • Proactively communicate to management any arising issues or barriers to meet timelines and deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, such as improving data integrity and process flow.
  • Demonstrate initiative for taking on new tasks or responsibilities, exhibiting creative thinking and innovative solutions.
  • Monitor and reconcile data from various sources including general ledger, patient billing, and operational systems.
  • Participate in special projects, audits, and performance improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Mathematics, or Management Information Systems.
  • 2–3 years of experience in not‑for‑profit, healthcare, or accounting settings.
  • Action orientation with experience managing aggressive deadlines and broad technical skills.
  • Strong foundation in financial analysis and/or accounting.
  • General understanding of the healthcare industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel and/or SQL.
  • High‑level proficiency in Tableau, Excel, SQL, and Decision Support reporting programs.
  • Experience working with a decision support/cost accounting system.
  • Experience in data transformation/manipulation.
  • Basic understanding of database relationships and structures.
  • Experience in Business Intelligence/visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

Salary Transparency

Salary range for the role is $67,771.14 – $88,483.50 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range does not include bonuses, incentives, differential pay, or other compensation.
