Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
• Two+ years of financial analysis, accounting, banking, treasury, or related experience preferred.
• Experience with FP&A platforms or BI/reporting tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate recurring financial, management, board, committee, and performance reports.
• Own assigned reporting processes, including data gathering, validation, reconciliation, report preparation, analysis, documentation, and communication of key findings.
• Analyze monthly financial and operational results, explain variances to budget and forecast, and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Prepare annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and long‑range financial projections.
• Develop profitability analyses for products, business lines, branches, and customer segments.
• Build and maintain financial models, dashboards, scorecards, and key performance indicators for strategic planning and performance management.
• Analyze key banking metrics, including net interest margin, return on assets, return on equity, efficiency ratio, loan/deposit growth, liquidity, credit quality, and capital performance.
• Assist as a power user of the Bank’s FP&A platform, supporting implementation, testing, data validation, and user training.

Objectives of this Role

Midwest BankCentre is seeking a highly analytical and versatile Financial Analyst to deliver reporting, analysis, and project support across the Finance function. This role will expand the capacity of Finance leadership by producing accurate, timely reports, maintaining financial models, and translating financial and operational results into clear insights that support decision-making.

The Financial Analyst will support financial planning and analysis, profitability and performance reporting, management and Board reporting, forecasting, balance sheet analysis, and strategic Finance initiatives. The role will own assigned reporting processes from data gathering and validation through report preparation, analysis, documentation, and communication of key findings.

A key priority will be supporting the implementation, adoption, and ongoing enhancement of the Bank’s FP&A platform as the central planning and management reporting solution. The analyst will also identify opportunities to improve, standardize, and automate reporting and analytical processes.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and technical capabilities with intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, sound business judgment, and a willingness to contribute across multiple areas. The successful candidate will be comfortable preparing recurring financial reports, investigating variances, building analytical tools, and communicating conclusions to Finance and business leaders.

Essential Functions

• Prepare accurate and timely recurring financial, management, board, committee, and performance reports.
• Own assigned reporting processes, including data gathering, validation, reconciliation, report preparation, analysis, documentation, and communication of key findings.
• Analyze monthly financial and operational results, explain variances to budget and forecast, and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Prepare annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and long‑range financial projections.
• Develop profitability analyses for products, business lines, branches, and customer segments.
• Build and maintain financial models, dashboards, scorecards, and key performance indicators for strategic planning and performance management.
• Analyze key banking metrics, including net interest margin, return on average assets, return on average equity, efficiency ratio, loan and deposit growth, liquidity, credit quality, and capital performance.
• Serve as a power user of the Bank’s FP&A platform, supporting implementation, testing, data validation, user training, report development, adoption, and ongoing enhancement.
• Improve and automate recurring reports and analytical processes through standardization, AI-enabled tools, advanced analytics, and other appropriate technologies.
• Validate financial and operational data and reconcile significant reporting outputs to appropriate source systems and financial records.
• Prepare concise financial commentary, investor and capital raise materials, strategic planning presentations, and other executive‑level communications that translate results into business insights.
• Support analysis of capital adequacy, liquidity, balance sheet composition, profitability, and interest‑rate risk to assist Executive Management in strategic decision‑making and capital planning.
• Prepare materials for ALCO, Board, Executive Management, and capital planning discussions.
• Support consolidated financial statements, regulatory reporting, audits, examinations, and internal control activities.
• Perform recurring and ad‑hoc analyses in response to business needs and organizational priorities.
• Collaborate with partners Lending, Retail, Operations, Treasury, Accounting, and Executive Management to understand business drivers and reporting needs.
• Perform other responsibilities and special projects as directed by the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field required.
• Two or more years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, banking, treasury, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
• Experience within a bank, credit union, or other financial services organization strongly preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, data analysis, lookup and aggregation functions, pivot tables, and repeatable reporting tools.
• Working knowledge of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis, and key banking performance measures.
• Experience with FP&A platforms, business intelligence or management reporting solutions, data visualization tools, or data transformation tools preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem‑solving, and process‑improvement skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain financial results to financial and nonfinancial audiences.
