Job summary

International Paper, headquartered in the US, is seeking a Financial Analyst II for our Omaha, NE operation. This role provides accounting and analytical support for the Omaha and nearby Missouri locations, helping maximize financial returns and support management decisions.

You will work with the Controller on preparing operational analyses, trends, profitability, and capital projects, while refining processes to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, business or related field required; CPA or CMA a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accounting and analytical support for the Omaha, NE and St. Joseph, MO locations and analyze performance to maximize financial return.
  • Work under the direction of the Controller in the preparation for and analysis of operational results, trends, profitability, budgeting & forecasting, and special projects.
  • Develop and refine processes to improve accounting efficiencies and documentation.
  • Participate in region and division wide projects impacting plants outside of the complex.
  • Assist Controller in maintaining internal control, accounting policy, and procedures.
  • Provide financial analysis including interpretation and application of standards and policies.
  • Prepare journal vouchers and participate in month-end close.
  • Perform daily financial activities of the plant.
  • Ensure timely processing of reports and responsibilities.
  • Enter data and use systems as research sources.
  • Complete various reporting requirements.
  • Follow financial policies and capital investment manuals as they relate to plants.
  • Ensure internal controls are followed in all areas.
  • Investigate, review, and evaluate financial transactions and recommend treatment.
  • Review payroll hours and balance hours for accuracy.
  • Assist other facilities within the complex as needed.

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range. Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial rewards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s annual incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform
  • Provide accounting and analytical support for the Omaha, NE and St. Joseph, MO locations and play an integral role in the success of the Company. The ideal candidate for this position will be a highly motivated employee who will analyze performance and recommend action needed to maximize the financial return for the facility.
  • Work under the direction of the Controller in the preparation for and analysis of operational results, operating trends, customer profitability, capital projects, incentive plan calculations, budgeting & forecasting, special projects, and initiatives in order to assist management in achieving operations and management objectives.
  • Work with Controller in development and refinement of processes to improve accounting efficiencies and process documentation.
  • Work on region and division wide projects impacting plants outside of complex as needed.
  • Actively assist Controller in maintaining and enhancing internal control, accounting policy, and procedures.
  • Provide financial analysis including interpretation and application of professional standards, company policies, and processes
  • Prepare journal vouchers and participate in month-end close.
  • Perform daily financial activities of the plant.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of daily, weekly, and monthly responsibilities and reports.
  • Perform data entry and utilize systems as a source of research analysis.
  • Complete various reporting requirements.
  • Be familiar with the financial policies and procedures outlined in the financial policies and capital investment manuals as they relate to the plants.
  • Ensure that applicable internal controls are followed in each area of responsibility.
  • Investigate, review, and evaluate various financial transactions and the recommendation of the appropriate treatment.
  • Review production hours entered/approved into payroll system; balance hours and maintain accuracy.
  • Assist other facilities within the complex as needed.
The Qualifications, Skills And Knowledge You Will Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, business or related field required; CPA or CMA a plus.
  • 5+ years of accounting and/or finance experience; work experience in manufacturing facility highly desirable.
  • Corrugated, printing, packaging and/or related finance experience in manufacturing environment highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of general business management principles, internal financial management, and industry business practices.
  • Demonstrated skills to influence peers and management.
  • Demonstrated effective communication with business leaders at various levels and functions.
