Job summary

NYU is seeking a Finance Specialist to monitor, analyze, and report on financial activity for the Law School departments and centers. The role supports budgets, forecasts, and financial projections, including variance analysis and Excel modeling, and serves as the primary Finance Office contact for budget matters.

Responsibilities include monitoring budgets, assisting with reconciliations and year-end activities, and preparing reports for department management and Finance leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Master's degree MBA/MPA or equivalent is preferred but not required.
  • 2+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination.
  • 2+ years related financial analysis or operations experience in higher education, non-profit, and/or complex organizations.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and financial modeling skills.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Preferred: Experience with PeopleSoft.

Support the development of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections, including variance analysis, ad hoc Excel modeling, and analysis of key revenue and expense drivers. Monitor assigned areas of the Law School budget, assist with reconciliations and year-end financial activities. Prepare financial reports and analyses for departmental management, Finance leadership, and other stakeholders, as needed.

Qualifications
  • Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Preferred Education: Master's Degree MBA, MPA or equivalent is preferred but not required.
  • Required Experience: 2+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination.
  • Preferred Experience: 2+ years Related financial analysis or operations experience in higher education, non-profit, and/or complex organizations.
  • Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Strong quantitative, analytical, and financial modeling skills. Demonstrated ability to compile, manipulate, analyze, and interpret financial data and present findings clearly to financial and non-financial stakeholders. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications. Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Proven ability to problem solve and to work both independently and as part of a team. Experience with PeopleSoft a plus.
Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $77,000.00 to USD $95,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
