Job summary

Magna International, Inc. is seeking an experienced manufacturing accountant to join our finance team in Kentucky.

The role focuses on accurate financial reporting, capital expenditures, fixed assets, and program cost management in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Ideal candidates will hold a recognized accounting designation (CPA/CMA/CA/CGA) and have at least five years of post-qualification experience in manufacturing, with strong Excel and data analysis skills.

  • Minimum five years post-qualification accounting in manufacturing.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and consistent accounting records.
  • Adhere to Government and Corporate policies and procedures.
  • Perform banking functions and bank reconciliations as required.
  • Review capital expenditures for proper account code distribution.
  • Maintain monthly fixed assets additions schedule and supporting documents.
  • Maintain tooling and analysis reconciliation schedules.
  • Manage program-related purchase orders and cash disbursements.
  • Assist with monthly close and variance analyses.

Candidates MUST have manufacturing experience. Automotive manufacturing is a plus.



Required Skills / Experience


  • Professional accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CPA or CA)

  • A minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience in accounting in a manufacturing setting

  • Experience in automotive manufacturing is an asset.

  • Practical, relevant experience with Microsoft Office.

  • Good math skills and the ability to analyze data.

  • Strong listening and communication (verbal and written) skills.

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work well in a fast paced environment and with a variable workload (flexible hours).

  • Ability to understand, anticipate and follow direction while exercising maturity of judgement.

  • Must be able to interact effectively with other team members.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and use discretion and tact.



Duties


  • Complete accurate and consistent accounting records

  • Adherence to Government and Corporate policies and procedures

  • Perform banking functions and bank reconciliations as required

  • Review all capital expenditures to ensure proper account code distribution

  • Maintain monthly fixed assets addition schedule and all supporting documents

  • Maintain monthly tooling and analysis reconciliation schedule

  • Maintain, manage, track and update program related Purchase Orders and cash disbursements related to programs

  • Update the program proforma income statements as required

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts related to tooling inventory, fixed assets and prepare journal entries periodically

  • Support engineering and program managers with various tasks such as entering requisitions

  • Responsible to review and analyze various cost accounts and prepare required journal entries for month end close

  • Prepare and input journal entries into the general ledger related to tooling and fixed assets

  • Prepare various variance analysis actual versus budget and forecast

  • Work closely with AR and AP team to ensure all invoices related to tooling programs are prepared on time and fully supported

  • Prepare, update and fully understand various Microsoft excel spreadsheets for various analysis and reconciliations

  • Assist the Controller and Assistant Controller in the preparation of the financial section of the business plan and the periodic forecast, along with tasks related to audits

  • Perform miscellaneous other accounting functions as requested by the Assistant Controller and Controller

  • Other duties as required.
