Job description

Position Purpose The finance organization is seeking a highly motivated Financial Analyst to drive strategic financial planning and long-term decision support for the business. This role sits at the intersection of corporate strategy and finance — building the models, analyses, and materials that shape how leadership and the Board think about capital allocation, growth investments, and multi-year business direction. This is a high-visibility opportunity for someone who wants exposure to how a retail organization plans for the future: evaluating capital projects, sizing strategic initiatives, and translating complex financial data into clear recommendations for senior leadership and the Board of Directors. The role blends rigorous financial modeling with strategic judgment, cross-functional partnership, and executive-level communication.

Essential Job Functions
Strategy & Long-Term Planning
  • Develop and maintain long-range financial models and scenario analyses that support the company's multi-year strategic plan and growth pillars
  • Analyze market trends, competitive positioning, and industry benchmarks to inform strategic recommendations
  • Partner with Senior Management to evaluate strategic initiatives, new business opportunities, and growth investments
Capital Allocation
  • Build financial models and business cases (ROI, proformas, NPV/IRR) to evaluate capital projects and investment opportunities
  • Support prioritization of capital spend across the business, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and return thresholds
  • Analyze and challenge capital appropriation requests to ensure viability, accuracy, and completeness
Board and Executive Material Preparation
  • Prepare polished, executive-ready presentations and materials for Board meetings and senior leadership reviews
  • Distill complex financial and operational data (Sales, Gross Margin, Inventory, Payroll) into clear executive summaries and key takeaways
  • Anticipate leadership and Board-level questions, ensuring materials are accurate, well-sourced, and defensible
Core FP&A Support
  • Support the annual budget process, incorporating strategic initiatives, economic trends, and operational effectiveness
  • Perform variance analysis, forecasting, and ad-hoc reporting to support business unit financial goals
  • Drive standardization and process improvement across planning and reporting practices
  • Implement and maintain Business Intelligence tools and dashboard reporting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or business, and/or relevant experience in strategic finance
  • Experience in FP&A, strategic finance, corporate development, investment banking, or consulting
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, and SQL Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, including experience building business cases and ROI/NPV analyses
  • Retail industry knowledge a plus
  • Strong executive communication skills — verbal, written, and presentation — with experience preparing materials for senior leadership or Board audiences
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional business partnerships in a fast-paced, complex environment
  • Organized, self-directed, and comfortable operating with ambiguity and competing deadlines
