Job summary

Micron Technology in Boise, ID invites a senior FP&A leader to drive budgeting, forecasting and long‑term strategic planning. You will model costs, analyze R&D programs, monitor KPIs and present actionable insights to senior management.

Collaborating with engineering, product, and finance teams, you will run the Engineering Cost Model monthly/quarterly, perform scenario planning, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with 2 years in related finance/analytical roles.
  • Experience with cost modeling and budgeting processes.
  • Proficiency in Power BI or Tableau for reporting.
  • Strong financial modeling and data cleaning skills.
  • SQL proficiency for data extraction and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead FP&A processes including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Analyze and model R&D projects for performance and risk.
  • Provide scenario planning, business case development, and competitive analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, finance, and leadership to align goals.
  • Manage monthly and quarterly ECM outputs; ensure data accuracy.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements.

Lead the financial planning and forecasting processes. Provide detailed analysis and financial modeling to support budget creation, resource allocation, and longterm strategic planning. Pathfinding. Monitor and analyze financial performance of R&D projects and initiatives. Proactively assess risks & opportunities that could lead to deviation from plan. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and present findings to senior management with actionable insights. Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency. Collaborate with project managers and senior leadership to optimize budget utilization and financial performance. Effectively prepare and present to business partners, offering actionable insights and observations. Work closely with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, product development, business units finance, and corporate finance, to align financial goals with overall business objectives. Provide strategic financial guidance to leadership, including scenario planning, business case development, and competitive analysis. Manage the running of the Engineering Cost Model (ECM) on a monthly and quarterly basis. Perform checks to ensure data output is accurate and timely. Assist in the analysis of programs and investments to ensure they all have a positive financial return. May telecommute part‑time.

Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Management, Information Systems, or a related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.

Position Requires
  • Systems and information management for cost modeling including SAC, SAC-P, and Adaptive Insights
  • Business Intelligence tools experience in Power BI or Tableau utilized for financial reporting and modeling
  • Financial modeling and analysis
  • Data wrangling and cleaning to ensure proper checks are in place for model accuracy
  • SQL to enable data pulls and manipulation for reporting
  • Microsoft Excel utilized for financial modeling, analysis and reporting
