POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Analysis Lead Analyst, Client Analysis & Consultation position works in conjunction with Health Plan Sales and Account Management and various departments within the finance, supply chain, underwriting, clinical and product organizations to provide financial and analytical support to clients.

Responsible for working and meeting directly with account teams and clients to research requests, for managing and presenting client pricing and rebate guarantee performance, for maximizing upsell opportunity and for modeling the impact of enterprise initiatives.

The position will proactively identify client performance trends, cost drivers, and savings opportunities using large datasets of historical claims data, as well as internal and external resources. Candidate will develop findings based on the assessed data and present to the client.

Additional work includes supporting department and enterprise projects, and working to enhance finance team efficiency through the development of improved financial models and best practices.

Position will rely heavily on querying databases, working with large data sets, independent research, and analyzing complex excel models to fulfill analytical requests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Support ad hoc analyses and consultation of Express Scripts clients and industry consultants.

  • Conduct in-depth analyses to identify client specific trends, explain past program performance, and recommend opportunities for improvement.

  • Explain guarantee performance by understanding PBM market drivers and client contracts.

  • Facilitate discussions with key stakeholders, leadership and clients.

  • On-going management of a client’s contract to ensure compliance with financial terms.

  • Participate in and lead team and/or enterprise projects.

  • Create and present innovative content to enrich strategic client meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Sciences, Data Science, Data Analysis, Business, Business Intelligence & Analytics, Healthcare, Pharmacy, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, STEM or related Field.

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience.

  • Master’s degree is a plus.

  • Self-starter with strong analytical, strategic and organizational skills.

  • Underwriting, risk management, actuarial, contract optimization a plus.

  • Strong written/verbal communication - present in front of both small and large groups.

  • Must be able to explain complex terms in simple ways.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint.

  • Develop Excel models to analyze and explain cost trends.

  • Modeling, trending and forecasting skills.

  • Create and run queries against internal database.

  • Experience with SQL, relational databases, Tableau and data visualization.

  • Create PowerPoint presentations that detail financial performance.

  • Demonstrate initiative with commitment and ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Knowledge of PBM or Healthcare industry preferred.

  • Up to 10% - 15% travel.
