Job Title: Financial Aid Specialist II - Harrison County Campus

Job Description

GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION: The Financial Aid Specialist II is responsible for assisting the Director of Financial Aid with all aspects of the Financial Aid Office functions and performs, with the assistance of other staff members, all necessary duties and responsibilities that are incumbent for this position.

Job Duties:

  1. Maintain confidentiality of all conversations and documents for financial aid applicants and recipients.
  2. Coordinator for the Student Work-Study program at the Harrison County Campus.
  3. Assist in the verification, reconciliation, and awarding process of financial aid recipients.
  4. Maintain student records and requests for transfer evaluations to the Admission and Records Office.
  5. Distribute mail and correspondence.
  6. Participate in Professional Development activities.
  7. Utilize Banner administrative software, N0LU Imaging software, and other appropriate software to support office procedures and specified duties.
  8. Be familiar with the College Catalog and Student Handbook.
  9. Be familiar with and abide by MGCCC Policies and Procedures Manual.
  10. Maintain an effective working relationship with college personnel, students, and the community.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and/or Dean of Student Services and Enrollment Management.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of an Associate Degree in Business and Office Technology or related field.
  2. Two years’ experience.
  3. Training and/or experience in the operation of personal computers and Microsoft Office, Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  4. Effective communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree.
  2. Prior experience in a community/junior college setting.
  3. Familiarity with basic Internet, E-mail, word processing functions, and SCT BANNER software.
